Screen printing: bold, durable prints for bulk orders.
Ink is pushed through a fine mesh screen, one colour at a time. For 50 pieces or more of a simple design, it's the most economical way to print, and one of the most durable.
Sample design- Minimum order
- From 50 pieces per design
- Best for
- Bulk orders of simple designs in one to four solid colours
- Colours
- One screen per colour; best with one to four solid colours
- Materials
- Cotton, blends and most fabrics; light or dark
How screen printing works.
- 1
A separate screen is made for each colour in your design.
- 2
Ink is pushed through the screen onto each garment, one colour at a time.
- 3
The print is heat-cured so the ink sets permanently.
Feel: Ink in and on the fabric; very durable.
Why choose screen printing
- The lowest price per piece on large runs of the same design
- Solid, bright colours with crisp edges
- Very durable: made for uniforms and tees that get washed a lot
- Works on light and dark garments
Good to know
- Minimum order of 50 pieces per design, because every colour needs its own screen
- Photos, gradients and many-colour artwork are better printed with DTF
What we make with screen printing.
Screen printing: common questions.
What is the minimum order for screen printing?
50 pieces per design, and the 50 can be split across sizes. Each colour in the design needs its own screen, so screen printing pays off on bulk orders. For fewer pieces, DTF has no minimum.
Is screen printing better than DTF?
For 50 or more pieces of a simple design in a few solid colours, screen printing usually costs less per piece and is extremely durable. For photos, gradients, many colours or small and mixed orders, DTF is the better choice. Tell us your design and quantity and we'll suggest the right method.
How many colours can a screen print have?
Each colour is printed with its own screen, so simple designs in one to four solid colours work best and cost least. Full-colour artwork and photos are better printed with DTF.
Can you screen print on dark t-shirts?
Yes. Screen printing works on light and dark garments.
